Fourth Grade Vermont History Fair

We were invited to the Fourth Grade Vermont History Fair today.  We visited fourth grade classrooms and saw many excellent projects about our state.  Kindergarten students heard about
Samuel De Champlain,  Ann Story, The Abenaki, the Bennington Monument and many other important people and events from Vermont history.  Thank you Fourth Graders.  We had fun seeing all your projects and learning from you.

Financial Literacy

Today employees from Community Bank N.A. came in to teach us about financial literacy.
The goals of the presentation were to:
Introduce structured spending decisions to assist young children in making choices.
Help children recognize that money comes in limited amounts.

Lesson objectives
• Gain self-confidence in making decisions.
• Analyze simple alternatives.
• Develop rational behavior patterns.
• Practice making decisions in structured situations.

The presenters were here to promote financial literacy in the elementary grades.  Our hope is that this will spread throughout our school next year, with every class being involved.  The State Treasurer's Office has been involved in bringing Financial Literacy into the schools for the past eight years.  A big thank you to the Community Bank N.A. employees for coming in to work with us.  Also, a big thank you to my daughter Erinn who works for the bank and set this up for us.

Kindergarten students had fun learning about making decisions on how to spend money.  They enjoyed the lesson, games and activities.
