Force and Motion

Kindergarteners brainstormed ideas on how to get a heavy crate of blocks from the bottom of the slide to the top of the slide.  They worked together to test out their plans.  These young scientists were successful and able to push and pull the crate of blocks to the top.  Nice job, kindergarteners!

Blankets of Hope

Dear families,

As you know, our class is participating in the Blanket of Hope project.  We read books about empathy and homelessness.  Students brainstormed how it would feel to be homeless.  They wrote letters to people experiencing homelessness and attached them to their blankets.  We have contacted several shelters in the area and are waiting to hear back.  Students demonstrated kindness, caring, and empathy during our discussions and our work on the project.  I am so proud of each one of them.  Please take a moment to look at our video.

Paper Ball Run Challenge

Families,

It was a great first day back from vacation!  Please check out our video of the Paper Ball Run Challenge.  Kindergarteners worked alone or in small groups to design, build, test, and retest their ball runs.  They added flaps, obstacles, twists, and turns to make their ping pong balls go slower.  It was impressive to watch the focused way they worked together and alone.  Students were engaged and persistent.  Kindergarten scientists and engineers built and rebuilt their structures to solve the problem of slowing down the ping pong ball.  Thank you for donating masking tape for our project.  We appreciate your generosity and support.
