Math Time

Today we worked on sorting and matching buttons.  Kindergarten students grouped buttons by a common attribute such as size, shape, color, and number of holes.  What hard workers!

"Mat People"

Check out our work with big lines, little lines, big curves, and little curves.  We had some fun making our big lines follow directions and move to the music.  Mr. Rector joined in the fun.  We also each created a Mat Person with our wooden pieces.  We will continue to use these pieces to build and identify letters.

Handwriting Practice

You may think we are just having fun.  You would be right!  We are having a great time writing our names on the bricks with water and paintbrushes.  For some reason, our names kept disappearing.  We think the sun might have had something to do with it.  We also enjoyed stretching out on the ground and writing on whiteboards.  Our class is working on writing our names with one uppercase and the rest lowercase letters.

Biking with Mr. G.

Kindergarten students enjoyed biking with Mr. G. during physical education today.  They did a great job.

A Kindergarten Day

We had another great day in kindergarten.  Kindergarten students loved spending time in the outdoor classrooms!  We collected, counted, and sorted acorns.  Of course, we also spent some time playing in "The Bog".

Outdoor Classrooms

I am so excited for school to begin!  I love our outdoor classroom spaces and know students will enjoy the time they spend outside.  Look at how beautiful these spaces are.  A big thank you to everyone who helped create these spaces for learning and exploring.  I feel so lucky to work in such a wonderful and supportive community.
