Today, everyone in our school celebrated reading and our RES book sale success with "Drop Everything And Read". Each student settled in with a good book or a few good books and read for fifteen minutes. Kindergarten students are using their "pointer power" to point to and read each word on the page. Another favorite reading superpower is our "picture power". Ask your child which reading superpower they like using the best.

Kindergarten Gingerbread Cookies
Dear Families,
What an exciting week we have had! We have been reading many different versions of Gingerbread Man, Boy, Girl, Pirate, friends, etc. On Wednesday we rolled out, cut, and decorated our own gingerbread cookies. A big thank you to Chef Danielle for making the gingerbread dough and separating it into 60 balls for students to roll out. Unfortunately, when we went to get our gingerbread cookies on Thursday afternoon we learned that the cookies had run away! We had to chase them all over the school grounds. We knocked on classroom windows and found clues that let us know the gingerbread cookies had passed by. Our class even had to search the playgrounds and outdoor classroom spaces. We couldn't find our cookies anywhere. Luckily, Mr. Rector came out with a net. He searched again and found our cookies. We were so happy to have our cookies returned to us. Thank you, Mr. Rector.

Book Character Celebration Today
What a great celebration today! Kindergarten students dressed as their favorite book characters. Many students brought in a book with their character in it or searched the classroom library for one. This was a fun way to celebrate following our school expectations of Respecting Ourselves, Respecting Others, and Respecting the Environment.
