What fun collecting objects from nature to represent numbers! Students found sticks, leaves, pinecones, and even slugs. After representing the numbers, kindergarteners worked in teams to put their numeral cards in counting order. We had great weather for working on math outside.

Our Visit with Winnie
We had a visit from Winnie, a therapy dog, today. She belongs to Galen Perkins. Mrs. Perkins is the Coordinator of Special Education and Social Emotional Learning for the south side of our district. Winnie was very calm and gentle. We loved petting her! We hope Mrs. Perkins and Winnie come back to visit us soon.

Outdoor Time
What a great end to an awesome week! We spent time in the Neighborhood Forest in the woods behind our classroom. Students explored the outdoor classroom spaces and did a scavenger hunt! They are excellent at observing and noticing even the smallest things in nature. Highlights included a lively frog, a nest of ants, and a variety of mushrooms. When kindergarteners finished their scavenger hunt, they had time to explore, build, play, and work together.

First Week of School
We had an amazing first week in kindergarten. The days were full of fun and learning! We are playing lots of games to get to know each other and learn our classroom expectations. Thank you for sharing your children with me. They are a joy.
