Financial Literacy

Thank you Community Bank employees/volunteers for the wonderful presentation on financial literacy on Wednesday.  Students enjoyed learning about money and the value of each coin.  Kindergarteners were interested in the read-aloud book and hearing about different things to do with money like saving it, spending it, and giving some to charity.  Seeing students exhibit such curiosity about money, spending, and ATMs was exciting.  Thank you for coming into our classroom and sharing your knowledge and time.  We appreciate it!

Friday Fun with Our Third Grade Buddies

Thank you, Mr. E. and third-grade friends.  We loved spending time with you and your chicks on Friday.  The chicks were so cute!  We appreciate you inviting us in and letting us hold and pet the chicks.

Vermont Animal Research

We researched Vermont animals in books and on PebbleGo, an online research site for elementary students.  You may notice a few comments from students that are not quite accurate.  They worked very hard to record the information they discovered in writing and pictures.  We continue to talk about our research and reflect on our understanding.  Great job kindergarten researchers!  You put a lot of effort into this project and it shows!  A big thank you to Shaun Langevin, our district digital learning leader, for recording students and putting the video together for us.

Rotting Logs

As part of our organisms unit kindergarten students investigated rotting logs.  Students examined rotting logs looking for evidence of living things.  They found plants and animals on, under, and in many logs in our Neighborhood Forest.  Students recorded their observations and shared what they found.  These kindergarten scientists had a great time discovering the living things that make their homes in rotting logs.

Neighborhood Forest

We have been having a great time outdoors in the Neighborhood Forest!  We have been investigating living and nonliving things.  Kindergarteners were excited to find worms, red efts, beetles, ants, and spiders.  Many of these critters were found under logs and leaf litter.

We spent time with our 3rd-grade buddies in Mr. Ellerkamp's class on Friday.  We found great spots in the woods to read with our buddies.  After reading with our buddies, we explored and played in the woods.

We are looking forward to spending more time outside.  Next week we are exploring logs and their many uses in the ecosystem.
