Let it Snow!!!

Our class enjoyed the the first snowfall on Friday.  We started off our day by running outside and playing in the snow.  How exciting!

Schoolyard Ecosystem Exploration

Kindergarten Scientists spent quite a bit of time on Thursday, November 13 exploring the wooded area behind our school.  They used their science observation skills and tools from their science backpacks to make discoveries.  Scientists noticed that binoculars were very helpful in seeing birds in far off trees and even made the hills and mountains seem much closer.  Magnifying glasses aided kindergarten scientists in discovering more about seeds, moss and trees in the woods.  We enjoyed using the outdoor nature classroom and nature trails.   We were all excited to find living creatures in the leaves on the forest floor.  We found worms, centipedes and even a wood frog!  We can't wait to go back.

Visiting our Fourth Grade Buddies

Our class visited our 4th grade buddies in Ms. Senning's class on Friday, November 7.  When we first arrived we all joined in a greeting.  We introduced our buddies to the group and told one thing about them.  Then our fourth grade buddies read books to us.  It was a great visit.  We love seeing our 4th grade buddies.  We are hoping to get together before Thanksgiving to work on a fun turkey math problem.

ECHO - Snowboarding

Kindergarten classes went to ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center in Burlington today. Smuggler's Notch and Burton Snowboards sponsored this snowboarding event.  Mr. Godfrey, our amazing Physical Education teacher, arranged this wonderful opportunity for our scholars.  In addition, Mr. Godfrey will continue to teach our kindergarten students snowboarding during physical education classes. Students will use the same type of equipment that we used at ECHO to practice snowboarding in the gym.  In the winter we will snowboard outside.  Thank you to all our parent volunteers.  We appreciate your help today. Thank you Mr. Godfrey for a great learning experience.

Garden Visit

Mrs. Mumford's class and our class visited the RES/CHMS garden on Friday.  We observed and tasted the vegetables that were still in the garden.  We also spent time making detailed sketches of one or two vegetables.  It was amazing what we saw when we looked closely at each vegetable.  What a beautiful autumn afternoon to work on our scientific drawings.
