This week in math, kindergarteners have been learning how to solve addition and subtraction story problems! We have been practicing the routine of picturing stories in our mind, retelling the story in our own words, acting it out, and even drawing what is happening in the story. Students are not told whether the problems are addition or subtraction and therefore have to think very carefully about the actions in the story and then use that information to choose a strategy to solve the problem.
