We read the book The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiana. In the story, Spookley, the square pumpkin, was different than the other pumpkins. The other round pumpkins were unkind to him. During a big storm, Spookley saves the other pumpkins. At the end of the story, the pumpkin patch is full of many different pumpkins of various sizes, shapes, and colors. We discussed how people are similar to the pumpkins in the story. We come in different sizes, shapes, and colors. We are all unique and special. Our class painted pumpkins that are as unique as we are.
