Class Look Alike Day

Today was Class Look Alike Day.  Our class dressed in jeans (or dark pants), red shirts, and baseball caps with the cougar paw attached.  It was hard to tell us apart.

Four Winds - Tracking

The weather was perfect for our Four Winds tracking lesson and activities on Thursday.   Our class learned about different kinds of animal tracks.  We had a chance to go outside and search for tracks and we found some tracks where the animal's claw prints could be seen.  The snow on the ground made the animal tracks much more visible and fun for us to find.  We even got a chance to move like different animals.  We waddled, bounded, walked and hopped like a variety of animals in Vermont do.  Students also noticed how different their own tracks looked when they ran compared to when they walked.  Thank you to our Four Winds volunteers for teaching us about tracking.  We had a great time!

Cooperative Snowpeople

Today we made snowpeople with our fourth grade buddies.  We read the book, Snowmen At Night, by Caralyn Buehner and decided to build our own snowpeople.  We worked in teams with our buddies to plan and build our snowpeople.  Kindergarten and Fourth grade scholars gathered materials and worked cooperatively to create very special snowpeople that were the same height as each kindergarten student.

Outdoor Recess

We finally made it outside for recess today!  Students were so excited to be out.  The drop off and pick up area was roped off and students were able to jump rope, hula hoop, toss bean bags and juggle with scarves.  Students found other creative ways to use the materials including a make shift basketball hoop (hula hoop) and moving in different ways through a hula hoop obstacle course.
