The Gingerbread Cookie Hunt at RES

What an exciting time we had on Friday!  We made cookies on Thursday, and when we went to the cafeteria to pick them up on Friday they were gone!  We searched in classrooms and outside the school.

No matter where we looked or who we asked, we could not find our cookies.  We asked teachers and other adults in our building to help us find our cookies.  Finally, Mr. Rector found and delivered our cookies to us.  He told us they were all over the school and in the trees.   Our cookies were delicious!  Yummy!

Book Character Day Celebration

Students throughout the school dressed as favorite book characters today to celebrate expected and positive behavior.  We read several books that connected to our outfits.  What a fun way to connect reading and dressing up.  Check out our favorite book characters.

Gingerbread Cookies

Over the last few weeks, our class has read many variations of the Gingerbread Man story.  We read about the Gingerbread Boy, Gingerbread Girl, and Gingerbread Baby.  Our hallways are filled with large watercolor gingerbread cookies running away from a fox.  Today all three kindergarten classes made gingerbread cookies.  Chef Danielle made gingerbread cookie dough for us.  We rolled, cut out, and decorated our gingerbread cookies. Tomorrow, we will have a yummy snack!  Thank you, Chef Danielle.

Salamander Search

Kindergarteners searched under leaves and logs for salamanders, worms, and other critters.  It was surprising how many things were hiding in the forest today.  We had a great time working together to discover the living creatures making their homes in the woods.

Scientists at Work

Did you know that nature is full of different colors?  Kindergarteners discovered that they could find something in nature that matched almost every paint chip card they were given.  Mushrooms and bark were shades of white.  Leaves were shades of orange, red, yellow, brown, and green.  We even found a variety of colors in sticks, moss, and bark.                                                                                                        These young scientists also searched for leaves in different stages of decay.  They noticed that they could see through leaves that were old and decaying.  Some of the leaves even reminded students of spider webs.  Nature and Kindergarteners are amazing!

Double Recess Day

What a great day for a double recess day!  Kindergarten classes had a wonderful time playing together on the playground.  All students in our school earned a double recess today for behaving in expected ways.   Great job RES students!
