Snow People

Kindergarten students met with their fourth grade buddies in Ms. Senning's class this morning to plan and create snow people.  They had a variety of materials to choose from, including plastic flowers, buttons, pom poms, felt and ribbon.  Each snow person had to be the same height as the kinderbuddy.  You can tell from the pictures that fourth graders and kindergartners had a great time working together on this project.  These wonderful snow people are hanging in the hallway outside our classroom and in the hallway by the cafeteria.  Thank you fourth grade buddies.

Kindergarten Tea Party

Please check out Kim Aucter's blog post from yesterday.  Kindergarten students made tea cups and had tea with the "king".

3-D Printing Project

Kindergarten students were invited to the enrichment room this morning.  Third graders from
Mrs. Ayer's class had special gifts for them.  After meeting with kindergarten students third graders
designed and built 3-D playdough tools for them.  The tools had kindergartners' names on them as well
as other symbols.   Kindergarten students were very excited to play with their new tools.  Thank you third graders and Mrs. Rankin.  What a great project!  We appreciate you including us.

How To Eat An Oreo Cookie

We have been working on our how to writing.  This morning we discussed, acted out and then really ate Oreo cookies.  Students followed that up by filling out planning sheets telling the steps for how to eat an Oreo cookie.   We are using our planning sheets to help us write books on How To Eat An Oreo Cookie.  The books will of course look like giant Oreos.  In the midst of our writing Mr. White came in for a visit.  We had him sit down and show us how he eats an Oreo cookie.  He definitely ate his cookie differently than we did.  Next time we think we should have have milk with our Oreo cookies.
Writing was quite yummy this morning!

Dance Party

Our scholars did it again!  Each grade level had a dance party to celebrate students' positive behavior.  In the afternoon kindergarten students moved and danced to music in the gym.  They loved the disco balls and finger lights.  Students enjoyed the chance to show off their lively dance moves.

How to Make A Newspaper Hat

Today we learned how to make a newspaper hat.  Scholars watched a short video and then watched as I followed the steps and made a hat.  Next, we stated the steps and drew quick sketches.  Then, each scholar followed the steps to make their own newspaper hat.  Finally, each student wrote their own How to Make A Newspaper Hat book.

We Love Playing in Snow!

Kindergarten students had a great recess today!  The weather was wonderful and the snow was sticky.
We made snow people, dug holes, shoveled and slid down the slippery slides into piles of snow.
The perfect January recess!
