Valentine's Day

Thank you families for making our classroom Valentine's Day celebration so special on Friday.  The food was delicious.  Students loved decorating their cookies!  I was surprised by the amount of fruit they all ate.  The children were so excited to give each other Valentines.   It is great to have a day that celebrates friendship and caring.  What a wonderful way to strengthen community.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Farm to School

Today Mae Quilty, the Farm to School Coordinator, came into our classroom to teach us about cabbage.  First, she read us a book, How Did That Get In My Lunchbox?, the story of food.  Our class learned a lot about where food comes from.  Then we sorted pictures of food and decided if the food items came from chickens, cows or potatoes.  Mae brought in some cabbages and we used our senses to observe and learn about the cabbages.  We drew pictures of our favorite or most interesting cabbage.  Mae is going to hang our pictures up in the cafeteria.  Next week the whole school will taste test a cabbage recipe.  Cabbage is the food of the month.   Thank you Mae.

Explore Time

Kindergartner's enjoyed their extended explore time today.  They worked and played together, problem solving and creating.  Playdough, blocks, legos, police and fire station, and sand table were some of the areas and activities they engaged in.

100th Day Assembly

Our class started off the assembly today.  We led the rest of the school in counting by 10s from 10 to 100.  Kindergarten scholars did an amazing job!
