It finally happened! A huge helicopter from the US Army National Guard landed on the field between CHMS and RES. We had front row seats! What an amazing experience. Thank you to G. Philip Vietje, a parent of a child in our class, and his coworkers for making today so incredible.

Paquette Full of Posies and Conant Farm
We had great weather for our field trip today. Sherry Davis, who works at RES and Paquette's,
taught us about the greenhouses and plants. We learned how the plants get their needs met in the greenhouses. Thank you, Ms. Davis, and Paquette's. After visiting Paquette's we toured Conant's farm and had the opportunity to see the calves and cows. We also saw the milking rooms, feed, and barns. Thank you to the Conant family for welcoming us to their farm. What a fun day!

Planting Time
Our class was excited to have Farmer Charlie (from Barber Farm) come in to talk about plants, their parts, and other interesting facts. Erinn Perry, Megan Hampton, and Matt Villemaire, volunteers from Community Bank, N.A., joined Charlie Siegchrist in helping us plant vegetables and flowers. We planted marigolds, pumpkins, and beans to take home in a few weeks. We also planted a large flat of winter squash for Farmer Charlie to take to the farm. We are planning to go to Barber Farm to plant the seedlings in early June. In the fall our class went to Barber Farm to help harvest potatoes. Barber Farm works to alleviate hunger in Vermont by giving its organic produce away to those in need. A great big thank you to our volunteers. See the link below for more information on Barber Farm.
