We want to thank Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT) for sponsoring our field trip to the farm. They covered the cost of transportation and a farmer stipend. Thank you to Erin and Ashley Farr for corresponding back and forth with our class this year and for allowing us to visit their farm. Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped chaperone our trip. We learned a lot and had a great time.

Field Trip to the Farr Farm
The weather cooperated long enough on Wednesday for us to visit the Farr Farm in Richmond. Erin Farr and Isaac showed us the barn, cows, robotic milking machine, farm equipment and feed. We enjoyed feeding the cows, petting the baby calf and exploring the farm. It was interesting watching the robotic milking machine milk cows.

Kindergarten Biking
On Monday Mr. Godfrey, our wonderful Physical Education teacher, organized a presentation on bike safety. Dan Manz, from Essex Rescue, spoke to all kindergarten students about biking.
On Tuesday, Mr. Godfrey, kindergarten assistants and parent volunteers, assisted our class in biking around the closed off loop in the parking lot. Students were able to practice the safety skills they were taught and had a lot of fun in the process.

Scientific Observation
On Thursday, May 7 we spent time outside our school investigating part of the school yard. Each partner team observed their plot of land carefully. They sketched and labeled the plant and animal life they discovered. We also began a discussion of living and nonliving things. This science work connects to our unit on organisms.

Beach Day
The weather cooperated and we had a lovely "Beach Day". Students enjoyed stretching out their beach towels during reading time and using their towels all day long in the circle area. Kindergarten students wore beach hats and sunglasses throughout the day. We even had snack outside today.
We love all the celebrations we have at school to recognize our positive behaviors (respecting yourself, respecting others and respecting the environment).

Opinion Writing Part 3
Here is our last installment of videos featuring kindergarten scholars sharing their opinion writing. Everyone did an amazing job sharing their opinions and reasons. Students even shared many "fix-it" solutions. Great job kindergarten writers!
