Welcome to Kindergarten Family Letter and Supply List

                                   August 4, 2017
Dear Families,

Welcome to kindergarten!  The beginning of the school year is such an exciting time.  We look forward to working with you and your child.  As a parent, you are the most important person in your child’s life, and we need to work together for your child’s benefit.  We need your support with academic goals, parent/teacher communication, and helping your child be organized for their day at school.
In kindergarten we will have a scheduled snack time lasting about 10 minutes. Parents need to provide snacks for their child.  This is a great time for students to have a nourishing, wholesome, no/low sugar snack to keep them feeling good for the important work they are doing at school.  This shouldn’t be a substitute for breakfast or lunch.  We have no refrigeration.  Please remember to pack cooler packs and utensils if needed.  Review with your child what’s in their lunchbox.  It is helpful for them to know what is meant for their snack or lunch.  Breakfast, snack and/or lunch can be purchased at school.  Your child can bring a water bottle to school.
We have developed several checklists of supplies you’ll need at home or school to help your child transition more easily.  We recommend that you label everything.  Label snack foods, clothes, footwear, backpacks, etc.  We ask that all personal toys stay at home.
Finally, all of your preparation and organization is important.  It will go a long way in helping your child be successful at school.  This will be a great year!  Thank you for your support and if there are any questions write a note, email, or call us at school, 434-2461.

Sincerely,

Ms. Darling,  Mrs. Gilbar and Mrs. Mumford
